OurPhilosophy
In 1999 my wife and I decided to buy a small farmhouse in the country
and move our family there. The place had fallen into disrepair and is
a project that we are continually working on. This move was done mainly
for our children in order to introduce them to a simpler more wholesome
environment. Raising livestock is central to our lifestyle. We feel that
this is a valuable source of life lessons for our family. The second core belief that we have is that raising livestock provides valuable life lessons for all young people, and we will support this endeavor to our fullest extent. We strongly believe in 4-H and FFA and commit ourselves to helping the young people involved whether it is through providing livestock, advice, or assistance. Our future is in the hands of todays youth. Finally, we endeavor to produce quality affordable livestock for youth to participate in livestock shows. We disagree with the trend that exists where the prices for livestock being shown in the market division are increasing at a rapid rate. Paying over $4000 for a whethered goat to be shown in a market division seems excessive considering that same animal would only bring about $100 if sold commercially. We feel this trend is unnecessary and is contrary to the values that are learned through raising livestock. It is disappointing when families, especially young people, are discouraged to show and compete because they feel that they are being priced out of competition. Our mission is to produce quality livestock that will be competitive yet affordable. We feel that this goal will produce rewards that are far greater than profitability. |
